Responding to Dino Patti Djalal, Teddy States Prabowo's Overseas Delegations Reduced by 50 Per Cent: Previously 120 People

Jakarta, VIVA – As scrutiny intensifies regarding the frequency of President Prabowo Subianto’s overseas visits, the Palace has revealed a major shift in the pattern of state travel that has largely escaped public attention: a drastic reduction in the number of personnel accompanying the President.

Cabinet Secretary Lt Col Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasised that the Prabowo administration is implementing strict efficiency policies for every overseas visit agenda. One such measure is the reduction of the number of participating delegates by more as much as half compared to the previous period.

Teddy made this statement via the @sekretariat.kabinet Instagram account in response to feedback from former Deputy Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal regarding the President’s foreign diplomatic activities. According to Teddy, the issue of delegation size is a crucial aspect that needs clarification amidst various public discussions concerning the President’s international tours.

“Secondly, the size of the delegation. This is very important. President Prabowo’s delegation has been significantly reduced. It is more than half of what it was in the previous period,” Teddy stated, as quoted on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

He explained that during the previous administration, the number of delegates accompanying presidential overseas visits could reach more than 120 people in a single trip. This figure has now been significantly suppressed through the efficiency policies implemented by the government.

“In the past, a single trip abroad could involve more than 120 people. That was during Mr Dino’s time. Now, under President Prabowo, the number is between 50 to 60 people maximum,” he said.

This reduction demonstrates the government’s effort to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in conducting international diplomacy without compromising the substance of the President’s state agendas. Teddy noted that this change is not new information, suggesting that members of the media who follow the President’s travels to various countries are already aware that the current delegation is much leaner than before.

“Many people already know this, including journalists; they certainly know all of that,” he concluded.

The reduction of the delegation by more than 50 per cent is described as part of an effort to maintain the efficient use of state resources while ensuring that every overseas visit remains focused on achieving national interests.
