Former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, Denny Indrayana, is urging that the impeachment process for Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka be pursued if Gibran chooses not to resign from his position. This was stated by Denny after following the developments of the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election Result Dispute (PHPU) case at the Constitutional Court (MK).

Denny is one of the 12 petitioners in case Number 01/PHPU.PRES-XXIV/2026, which questioned Gibran’s educational qualifications during the 2024 Presidential Election. Denny believes the Constitutional Court’s ruling has provided clarity regarding the long-debated issue of educational requirements.

“Based on the ruling of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of An Indonesia, one of the highest judicial institutions in our country alongside the Supreme Court, it is legally affirmed that Mr Gibran Rakabuming Raka does not meet the educational requirements as regulated in the Election Law,” said Denny after the hearing on Tuesday (6/10/2026).

Denny understands why the Constitutional Court did not immediately take steps leading to Gibran’s disqualification, noting that Gibran has already been inaugurated as Vice President.
