The Constitutional Court (MK) has rejected in full the material examination of Law Number 3 of 2022 on the State Capital (IKN) as amended by Law Number 21 of 2023. The pronouncement hearing for Decision Number 71/PUU-XXIV/2026 was held on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that he fully understands Jakarta’s status as the national capital. According to him, that status will remain attached to Jakarta until there is a presidential decision (presidential decree). “Regarding the Constitutional Court’s decision related to DKI Jakarta remaining as the capital, I indeed understand and know it fully. As long as there is no presidential decision for the relocation, it remains the capital,” said Pramono at the DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026). Therefore, until now, his side has still been using DKI in every activity. This is because the relocation of the national capital has not yet been stipulated through a presidential decree. “That’s why until today, all activities in Jakarta still use DKI, until there is a presidential decision for the capital relocation,” he said. The former cabinet secretary stated that the DKI Provincial Government has been implementing the Constitutional Court’s mandate all along. “Thus, what is the Constitutional Court’s decision has already been carried out by us all this time,” said Pramono.
