London — On Sunday, UK Energy Minister Ed Miliband stated that ending the ongoing conflict is the best and most conclusive way to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the situation is damaging the global economy.

“The current surge in oil and gas prices is caused by the closure of the strait,” Miliband told the British media. He added that Britain wishes to work with its allies to pursue reopening of the shipping route.

The crisis involving Iran must be eased because the best and most conclusive way to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is to end this conflict, Miliband said.

“We do not wish to see a nuclear-armed Iran, but we want to find a way to end this conflict which, frankly, benefits no one in the world,” he said.

“We are seeing the damage that has occurred, as well as the potential economic losses that could result,” he added.

Miliband also stated that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s approach to this conflict is de-escalation, and Starmer made the right decision by not joining in the initial strikes.
