Residents Urged Not to Bring Private Cars When Picking Up Passengers at Pasar Senen Station
JAKARTA - The Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Region (Daop) 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, has urged residents planning to pick up returnees arriving at Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta not to bring four-wheeled vehicles on Tuesday (24/3/2026). The reason is that parking space for four-wheeled vehicles in the area in front of the station has limited capacity. Meanwhile, the return flow using long-distance trains is predicted to peak today. “Yes, we urge pick-up personnel or arriving passengers at Pasar Senen Station to use alternative intermodal integration,” he stated. Public transportation options that can be used include Transjakarta buses at the Senen Central or Jaga Jakarta stops. Another alternative is to use the electric rail train (KRL) available at platform 6 of Pasar Senen Station. That KRL is integrated with various stations in Jabodetabek. In addition, pick-up personnel can also use online taxis or conventional taxis. “So we urge the public to take advantage of that,” Franoto said. Franoto revealed that as of Tuesday at 11:00 WIB, the return flow of passengers arriving in Daop 1 had approached 53,000. He also confirmed that the return flow using long-distance trains would peak on this Tuesday. “That’s right, we estimate today will be the highest. Yesterday it was over 51,000 and now it’s nearly 53,000 and this will continue to increase until midnight,” he explained. That number is based on data up to 09:00 WIB. “The number of passengers arriving today is higher compared to the departure of 41,755 passengers,” Franoto said. The highest number of return passengers arriving by long-distance train in Daop 1 Jakarta was recorded at Pasar Senen Station. There were 18,458 passengers arriving on this Tuesday. Then there were 16,610 passengers arriving at Gambir Station in Central Jakarta. Subsequently, there were 7,708 passengers arriving at Bekasi Station today. “Meanwhile, for departures, Pasar Senen Station also recorded the highest number of 17,257 passengers, followed by Gambir with 12,248 passengers on Tuesday,” he said.
