Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort (Polrestro Jakbar) is intensifying patrols of homes vacated by residents travelling home for Eid to anticipate burglaries during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 holiday period. Acting Head of the Mobile Brigade of the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, Commissioner Dr. Eko Adi Setiawan, explained that the patrols are conducted intensively and continuously, both during the day and at night, particularly during vulnerable hours for security disturbances. “We carry out these patrol activities routinely and consistently, targeting residential areas left empty during the homecoming period, to anticipate potential criminal acts,” Eko stated when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday. He said this step is taken to provide a sense of security to the community, especially during the Lebaran moment. In implementation, personnel are combing through housing complexes, alleyways, and points deemed vulnerable. “While providing reminders to the surrounding community to remain vigilant and look after the environment mutually,” Eko added. With these patrols, Eko hopes that the community celebrating Eid al-Fitr in their hometowns can feel more at ease, as their left-behind homes remain under police supervision. In a separate occasion, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung asked Jakarta residents planning to travel home for Lebaran to report to their local RT and RW administrators before leaving their homes. “We ask that before heading home, travellers report to their local RT and RW. Do not leave the house unattended without anyone being informed,” Pramono said some time ago. This is done to prevent potential criminal acts such as burglaries in homes left by their owners. According to him, reporting to the RT and RW is important so that the surrounding environment knows the condition of residents’ homes left empty during the homecoming.
