Residents Thank PRR Task Force for Strengthening Enang-enang Bridge Structure
Residents of Arul Cincin Village, Pintu Rime Gayo District, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, have thanked the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra for repairing the structure of the Enang-Enang Bridge. The bridge had previously been repaired through local community self-help efforts.
Enang-Enang community figure Syahrial said the government’s swift response provided certainty for residents who have relied on the Enang-Enang Bridge for various daily activities. According to Syahrial, the outcome of a meeting with the government demonstrated a real commitment to resolving connectivity issues in the area.
"The planning is truly extraordinary, there are three things that will be done. The Werlah road to Simpang Lancang will be widened to six metres, then immediately asphalted, two bridges will be built, and then one flyover," Syahrial said in a written statement on Tuesday (7/7/2026). "Alhamdulillah," he added.
Syahrial said the community welcomed the government’s agreement to maintain the function of the Enang-Enang Bridge while preparing a permanent solution. "We have agreed that the PU and the government will work together here for the people’s interest. Once again, on behalf of the community, we thank the Government of the Republic of Indonesia for paying attention to us for the people’s interest," said Syahrial.
Task Force Head (Kasatgas) PRR Muhammad Tito Karnavian explained that the government has established three parallel handling measures. First, strengthening the Enang-Enang Bridge structure so it can still be used by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. Second, widening and asphalting the Wer Lah alternative road to six metres, accompanied by the construction of two permanent bridges this year. Third, building a long-span bridge of approximately 300 metres as a long-term solution, projected to become a new icon for Tanah Gayo.
"This Enang-Enang Bridge will continue to function, strengthened as much as possible by the PU office, with the aim that at least two-wheeled and ordinary four-wheeled vehicles can use it. But for six-wheeled vehicles, especially lorries, it is not yet possible," said Tito.
Tito added that the construction of the Werlah alternative road along with two permanent bridges has been prepared for this year with a value of around Rp 100 billion. Meanwhile, the government has also planned the construction of a long-span bridge of approximately 300 metres with an estimated budget of around Rp 700 billion, to be implemented in 2027 and projected to be completed within three years.
According to Tito, the government is present to ensure the community’s needs are promptly met without neglecting safety aspects. He also appreciated the spirit of mutual cooperation among residents who have maintained access so it can continue to be used. "I express my appreciation to the community who have worked together. But that does not mean the government does not care. The alternative road has been tidied up and will be further improved along with its bridges," said Tito. "This one has already been reinforced and will be maximised further," he concluded.
