Residents Suspect This is the Cause of the Rapid Deterioration of Otista Raya Road in South Tangerang After Patching
SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - Damage on Otista Raya Road, Ciputat, South Tangerang City, frequently occurs due to unresolved drainage issues.
Rudi (49), a resident of Ciputat, said that the road has been patched several times.
In fact, the last repair was carried out a month ago and was only completed on Tuesday (24/2/2026).
According to him, patching the road is not a long-term solution to the problems on the road.
This is because the root of the problem lies in the drainage system around the location, which is considered not functioning optimally.
“It’s pointless to keep patching the road if the drainage system isn’t fixed. The drainage system should be fixed first, that’s the problem,” he explained.
During the 10 years he has lived in the area, Rudi often sees garbage trucks parked in the area.
According to him, water from the garbage trucks often accumulates, causing potholes in the road.
In addition, when it rains, puddles often appear at that point. According to him, this condition makes the asphalt deteriorate more quickly.
“When it rains, the same thing happens, there are often puddles. That’s what makes the road deteriorate quickly,” he said.
Most recently, Rudi learned that the South Tangerang City government only carried out cleaning of the drainage system, not repairs.
“The drainage problem here has never been resolved. It has been cleaned, but only superficially,” he said.
Despite this, the damage to the road does not cause significant losses to residents.
