Residents sue land agency

JAKARTA (JP): Residents of Kelapa Gading want the North Jakarta Land Agency office to withdraw a permit given to a private developer to use 20 hectares of land they have been tilling for 38 years.

The 102 residents, represented by lawyer Efri Said, asked the Jakarta State Administrative Court to order the mayoralty to cancel the permit granted to PT Sari Kebon Jeruk Permai.

The residents claim to have occupied the plot since 1957, saying, "The developer has no right to use the land."

The lawyer said the issuance of the land use permit is incorrect, although the property belongs to the government. (29)
