Residents Storm Labuan Bajo Port Authority Office After Official Allegedly Assaults Harbour Employee

Dozens of residents stormed the Labuan Bajo Class III Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) office on Friday (14/8/2026). They were searching for a KSOP Labuan Bajo employee suspected of assaulting a parking gate attendant at Marina Labuan Bajo Port. They chanted the name Samuel, who is alleged to be the perpetrator of the assault.

“Where is Samuel?” shouted one resident.

The crowd demanded that Samuel be taken immediately to the West Manggarai Police. “Call him, take him to the police station,” shouted another member of the crowd.

A KSOP Labuan Bajo employee was seen receiving the crowd at the office door. However, the crowd continued to shout, ignoring the employee’s explanation. The crowd failed to meet Samuel. They then left the KSOP Labuan Bajo office.

According to information gathered, Samuel and witnesses will be questioned by West Manggarai Police investigators this afternoon. Meanwhile, the assault victim has filed a police report with the West Manggarai Police. A dozen family members were seen accompanying the victim, named Engelbertus Abun.

“I have filed a police report,” said Engelbertus at the West Manggarai Police station.

It was previously reported that a KSOP Class III Labuan Bajo employee allegedly assaulted a parking gate attendant at Marina Labuan Bajo Port. The physical violence was captured on CCTV and went viral on social media.

Head of KSOP Class III Labuan Bajo Stephanus Risdiyanto confirmed the physical violence incident. However, Stephanus has not yet revealed the identity of the perpetrator and does not yet know what triggered the assault.

“KSOP Class III Labuan Bajo will conduct an internal investigation into the employee concerned to obtain facts and information objectively,” said Stephanus.

The assault incident occurred on Thursday (13/8) evening. Based on the circulating video, the KSOP Labuan Bajo employee appeared to be wearing an official uniform. His face was not visible and he was positioned with his back to the camera while assaulting the victim. The employee then slapped and struck the victim’s head and face. In total, he slapped and struck the victim four times based on the CCTV footage.

The victim appeared not to fight back while being assaulted. The victim then walked backwards until he entered a room. The KSOP employee then followed him into the room and was seen striking the victim.
