Residents Shocked by Decomposing Male Infant Body Found Behind House in Kupang
Residents in RT 17, Penfui Timur Village, Kupang Tengah Subdistrict, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), were shocked by the discovery of a decomposing male infant’s body on Thursday, 28 May 2026. The corpse was found behind a resident’s house. ‘The deceased is male. His face is unrecognisable due to maggots and the body has turned black,’ said Section Head of Public Relations for Kupang Police Residency, Ipda Lalu Randy Hidayat, to detikBali on Friday, 29 May 2026. Randy explained the body was discovered at around 16:00 WITA when resident Agnes Ose Pati (62) was cleaning rice behind her house. Shortly after, she noticed several dogs barking near a cluster of banana trees beside her kitchen. Curious, she checked and was shocked to find a prone infant body swarmed by flies. She then reported the incident to the Head of RW 05 in Penfui Timur Village, Yakobus Labo. The discovery was reported to the police. In response, personnel from Kupang Tengah Police Station and the identification team from Kupang Police Residency immediately went to the scene to process the crime scene. The infant’s body was then taken to Bhayangkara Hospital (RSB) Titus Uly in Kupang for medical examination. Police are currently investigating the case to identify the perpetrator. ‘The infant’s body has been evacuated to RSB Titus Uly for further examination. The suspect is still under investigation,’ Randy explained.
