Residents Reluctantly Sell Land for Pasar Minggu Railway Parallel Road Project
The Jakarta Provincial Government has commenced land acquisition for the railway parallel road project cutting through from Pasar Minggu to Tanjung Barat in South Jakarta. Most residents have already sold their land, though some still wish to hold out.
Lukman (62), a resident of RT 12/RW 7, is one who has sold his land and building for the road construction. He had no issue with the compensation money offered. Lukman said that the land acquisition socialisation had been ongoing for a long time, and residents frequently met with officials from the sub-district.
“When they came, the main reason was indeed for the public interest. So, as residents, because of that reason, we can’t really do anything, as it is for the public interest,” Lukman said when met at the location on Sunday (5/7/2026).
Lukman explained that on average, residents received compensation calculated at Rp 8 million per square metre for the land price and Rp 2 million per square metre for the building. For those who have received the compensation, their houses are now being demolished, while those who have not are still holding out.
“The prices vary. They said it was the MAPI valuation. They say MAPI is an independent party. I don’t know what the survey was based on, so when we were present there, we were just suddenly given an envelope. Each individual plot is different,” he explained.
It is a different case for Fitriyanto, a resident of RT 7/RW 7, who is still holding out because he disagrees with the price offered. Fitriyanto wants a higher price due to the status of his land and building.
“My building is the best building in the area, from the end of Lebak to here, my building is the best, a permanent two-storey structure. It is being equated with the old buildings at a price of Rp 2 million per metre. Being equated with old buildings at Rp 2 million per metre, I am at a loss,” Fitriyanto said.
The man familiarly called Anto admitted he has already filed a letter with the court to challenge the land price. Anto wants his land value to be higher. “Yes, last Monday I filed the letter. It moved to the high court in Ragunan, the one in Ampera moved to Ragunan. So I filed the letter there,” he said.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung previously promised to complete the construction of the road connecting Pasar Minggu with Tanjung Barat. According to him, the project has been unfinished for years and has spanned several gubernatorial leadership periods. Pramono conveyed this after inspecting the construction of the Latumenten flyover in West Jakarta on Thursday (2/7). He said the railway parallel road project in Pasar Minggu is now one of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s priorities.
“I am among those who have repeatedly received input regarding the road parallel to the railway tracks. The road parallel to the railway tracks in Pasar Minggu that passes through BIN, that has gone through seven governors and is still not finished,” Pramono said.
