Residents Recount Characters of Two Suspects in Junior High Student Murder at Former Kampung Gajah
The case of a junior high school student with the initials ZAAQ, who was found murdered, has shaken residents of Margahayu Village, Leuwigoong District, Garut, West Java. The area is both the hometown of the victim's parents and the residence of the perpetrators.
The suspects, identified by their initials YA and AP, are known to be residents of Kampung Ciduga, Margahayu Village, Leuwigoong District, Garut Regency. This was confirmed by the Margahayu village head, Uce Saepurohman. According to Uce, his constituents were deeply shaken upon hearing news of the murder.
"We are all extremely shocked here. We never imagined a child could commit such a brutal act," Uce said, as reported by detikJabar on Tuesday (17 February 2026).
According to Uce, suspect AP is known to have dropped out of school despite still being a minor. He works as a wedding party decoration installer.
Meanwhile, YA is known among residents as a rather troublesome youth, although initially his behaviour was considered typical teenage mischief. According to Uce, YA had been expelled from school, though he later re-enrolled.
"He was expelled for approximately one year. But he became active in school again," he said.
ZAAQ was previously found dead with horrific injuries and wounds across his body on land at the former Kampung Gajah site in West Bandung Regency on Friday evening (13 February). His body was discovered by a group of residents who were conducting a live stream on TikTok.
Following a police investigation, it was revealed that ZAAQ was the victim of a murder carried out by two suspects, YA (16) and AP (17). The murder was motivated by a personal vendetta held by the principal suspect, YA, against ZAAQ.
