Bogor residents filled the courtyard of Bogor City Library from pre-dawn hours on Friday, 13 March 2026, to exchange new banknotes.

During observation at the location, residents initially queued at the front gate of the library courtyard. However, security personnel directed citizens to enter through the main gate of Bogor City Hall instead.

Residents formed neat queues with five rows extending backward. They engaged in conversation with one another whilst waiting.

Security officers also instructed members of the public to maintain order and prevent anyone from jumping the queue.

One resident, Resa, 29, from Pagelaran, had been queuing since 3 AM to exchange currency. She was concerned that if she arrived late, she would miss the opportunity to exchange money, as had occurred the previous day on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

“I wanted to make sure I got some. It was chaotic yesterday and I didn’t get any because I arrived at 6 AM and they’d run out. I came at 3 AM today without even having breakfast,” said Resa at the Library courtyard on Friday.

She was determined to queue because she intended to distribute new notes to her nieces and nephews as well as neighbours.

The previous day, she had not been able to join the queue because she arrived at 6 AM.

“By 6 AM the supplies were supposedly exhausted, so I went back. That’s why I came early this morning at 4 AM, but the gate wasn’t open then,” she explained.

Nevertheless, she followed the instructions of officials to enter the queue through the main gate of City Hall and proceed to the library courtyard.

During observation at the location, there were separate queues that appeared less congested at the courtyard of Bogor City Regional Planning and Development Board building.
