Residents protest over electricity

JEMBER, East Java: Dozens of residents in Curahdami subdistrict, Jember regency staged a protest on Monday outside the Jember council building, demanding that the administration act quickly to install electricity throughout the subdistrict.

The residents' representatives met with local councillors after the protest, and during the meeting, they expressed anger at the government, which was incapable of providing electricity in the subdistrict.

They said that they had prepared a proposal four years ago with a detailed plan for electricity to be installed in the subdistrict, but the proposal was not acted upon. -- Antara
