Residents Protest Illegal Parking Fees in Kembangan at Rp 20,000, Claiming It's for Eid Bonuses
JAKARTA - Illegal parking around the CNI shopping centre area on Jalan Puri Indah Raya, Kembangan, West Jakarta, is being complained about by residents.
In a post from the Instagram account @warga.jakbar, a resident claimed to have been forced to pay Rp 10,000 for motorcycle parking due to the Eid holiday season.
“I feel so unwilling; I had just stopped briefly and was immediately demanded Rp 10,000 for parking, they said because it’s Eid, the parking fee has increased. But it’s actually a public road and close to the mayor’s office,” read the caption of the post, quoted on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
In another video, two parking attendants can be seen pacing back and forth on the road in front of CNI Kembangan.
The video owner also claimed to have been charged Rp 10,000 for parking, even though they only stopped briefly to buy a drink.
According to the video recorder, there were many Satpol PP officers around the location, but they did not take action against these illegal parking attendants.
Revi (26), a resident of Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, admitted to becoming a victim of this illegal parking on the first day of Eid, Saturday (21/3/2026).
“I had just come from Puri and happened to bring the car because I was taking my younger siblings. Then I stopped here because there are lots of street food stalls, snacks, but I only stopped briefly without getting out of the car,” Revi told Kompas.com on Tuesday.
Revi then got out of the car and walked to the vendor where he bought food.
“After I walked to get (the food), suddenly when I was about to get back into the car, I was told to pay for parking, initially they demanded Rp 20,000, I was shocked. Then when I refused, they lowered it to Rp 15,000, they said it was because of Eid, for THR,” said Revi.
Revi still objected to paying Rp 15,000 for parking because he stopped for less than five minutes.
He then gave Rp 10,000 and said he had no more small change.
“I just gave Rp 10,000, it’s already equivalent to paying for parking in the Puri Mall basement. He just stayed silent but didn’t help when the car was about to move again,” he said.
Revi also regrets the prevalence of illegal parking and extortion in this area. According to him, such practices have been ongoing for a long time.
