Residents Praise Polda Metro Night Patrols for Safer Commuting
The appreciation comes from an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver who frequently operates until early morning in Bekasi Regency. He said he no longer feels anxious about street crimes such as highway robbery and motorcycle theft since the police patrols began.
“Last night, I was delivering orders to a commercial area until 3am due to high demand. As I passed near the mall there, I saw several police officers on patrol,” he said on Tuesday (26/6/2025).
“To be honest, seeing patrol cars and motorcycles makes us ojol drivers feel much calmer, safer, and no longer worried when we have to be out at night earning a living,” he added.
He hopes the patrol activities will be consistently maintained across all areas, stating that police patrols are essential every night, especially on high-risk routes.
“My hope is that patrols like this are present every night on high-risk routes. Not just for us ojol drivers, but also for factory workers and residents returning from night shifts, so everyone feels protected and those involved in highway robbery can soon repent and find lawful work,” he added.
In response, Polda Metro Jaya’s Public Affairs Chief, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, thanked the public for their appreciation and trust. Commissioner Budi said this would motivate the institution to continue improving service quality and regional security.
“We are deeply grateful for the appreciation and trust given by online motorcycle taxi drivers and the residents of Bekasi Regency. The presence of personnel on the ground through optimised preventive police efforts, such as regular patrols and night-time raids, is Polda Metro Jaya’s commitment to narrowing the space for criminals and ensuring public areas remain safe and conducive,” Commissioner Budi said.
Polda Metro Jaya has also urged residents to remain vigilant while driving at night and to report any suspicious activity immediately via the 110 hotline.
