The Jakarta Provincial Government, in collaboration with KAI, is finalizing the construction of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) KRL station. The arrival of the JIS KRL station has been met with enthusiasm by several residents.

One of them is Maul, a resident near JIS who frequently uses public transportation. Initially, Maul admitted to not being aware of the JIS KRL station construction project.

However, after learning about it, Maul expressed his happiness. According to him, the presence of the JIS KRL station, which will serve the Tanjung Priok-Jakarta Kota route, will provide residents with more public transportation options when traveling.

“I didn’t know, where is it? Oh, it’s over there? What’s the destination? (Tanjung Priok-Jakarta Kota). Oh, that’s great, so there’s an alternative. As a resident, I’m happy, there are many public transportation options, especially affordable ones,” said Maul when met at JIS, North Jakarta, Saturday (May 16, 2026).

Besides Maul, there is also Mia, a 76-year-old elderly woman, who admitted to frequently traveling to attend exercise sessions in the Glodok area, West Jakarta. Mia is aware of the progress of the JIS KRL station construction, but has not yet understood the route.

“Oh yes, I know, but it’s not finished yet, right? Where is it from, where is it going?” said Mia.

After learning about the KRL route from Tanjung Priok to Jakarta Kota, Mia seemed happy. Because, she said, there is a public transportation option for her to get to the exercise location in Glodok.

“Oh, that’s great, so there’s a choice. It turns out it’s close to Glodok,” she said.

It is known that the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, confirmed that the construction of JIS is in the final stages. After discussions with PT KAI, the new station is targeted for completion in May and will begin operating in June 2026.

“We just finished a meeting with the President Director of KAI and his entourage. For JIS, it is estimated that it will be completed in May, and will operate in June,” said Pramono while inspecting the Ancol Pump, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Tuesday (April 7).

Pramono said that the finalization with KAI not only concerns the JIS Station, but also several other transportation projects. Including the completion of the MRT network, the development of the Kota Tua area, to the plan for a 16-kilometer electric railway line.

“Not only the JIS KRL station. We also discussed other things, including the MRT and Kota Tua,” he said.

He explained that the electric railway line will stretch from Rawajati to Tanjung Priok, which is expected to facilitate the mobility of Jakarta residents.

“The 16-kilometer electric train from Rawajati to Tanjung Priok will significantly help ease transportation,” he added.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government and KAI also discussed the integration of three important stations in the city center - Dukuh Atas, BNI City, and Karet. Pramono ensured that the coordination process is running smoothly.

“Including the Dukuh Atas, BNI Station, and Karet which we will integrate. It will be done soon,” he said.
