Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Mall operators have revealed the conditions in shopping centres a few days after Eid al-Fitr 1447 H or 2026, which saw an increase in visitors, marking the best opportunity for malls to enhance their revenue.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Malls Managers Association (APPBI), Alphonzus Widjaja, reported that the occupancy or visitation rate at malls was observed to rise from the first day of Eid until the end of the 2026 Eid holiday. The increase could reach 12%.

“Based on data from the first day of Eid until Sunday, the last day of the Eid holiday, the average growth in visitation rate is around 12% compared to last year in 2025,” said Alphonzus when contacted by CNBC Indonesia on Monday (30/3/2026).

He added that the peak in public visits to malls typically occurs on the second day of Eid or H+1.

“The peak in public visits to malls occurs on the second day of Eid al-Fitr,” he explained.

Alphonzus continued that the public’s shopping patterns tend towards products in food and beverages as well as entertainment.

“If during the previous Ramadan almost all product categories and goods experienced sales increases, but during Eid, shopping patterns change, with the public tending to shop for food and beverage products as well as entertainment,” he clarified.

“It is estimated that the average visitation rate to shopping centres ahead of and during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr will increase by around 10-15% compared to last year,” Alphonzus concluded.
