Residents of Penajam Can Leave Vehicles at Police Headquarters During Mudik
Penajam Paser Utara — Residents of Penajam Paser Utara Regency in East Kalimantan Province who travel home for Lebaran celebrations can leave their vehicles at the local Police Resort (Polres) headquarters.
“Residents are welcome to deposit two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles in the police headquarters compound during mudik, free of charge,” said Penajam Paser Utara Police Resort Chief Ajun Komisaris Besar Polisi (AKBP) Andreas Alek Danantara on Sunday.
He stated that the vehicle safekeeping service is expected to reduce criminal activity that exploits empty homes left vacant during mudik.
The vehicle deposit service is not limited to Penajam Paser Utara Police Resort headquarters, but can also be utilised at the Police Sector (Polsek) offices in Penajam, Waru, Babulu, and Sepaku.
Residents interested in depositing two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles need only provide identification documents and vehicle documentation, such as copies of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK) and Motor Vehicle Ownership Certificate (BPKB), as well as the vehicle owner’s identification.
“Residents can deposit vehicles anytime before departing for mudik by visiting the police headquarters directly and submitting their identification and vehicle documents,” he explained.
Residents who deposit vehicles will receive an official receipt to claim their vehicles upon returning from mudik.
The vehicle parking service, he stated, aims to secure residents’ vehicles during Lebaran mudik to reduce motor vehicle theft cases.
“Depositing vehicles at police headquarters is safer than leaving them with neighbours or storing them in the house compound, as this can encourage vehicle thieves to commit theft,” said Andreas.
