Residents of Moyo Island, Sumbawa Discover Skeletal Remains Again

Residents have been alarmed by the discovery of human remains in Sebotok Village, Moyo Island, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Previously, residents had also found the body of an infant identified as originating from East Lombok.

Sebotok Village Secretary Ahmad revealed that the skeletal remains were first discovered by residents on Sunday (1 March 2026). According to Ahmad, the remains could not be identified as they consisted only of an intact skeleton.

Ahmad stated that the skeletal remains were discovered in a different location from the infant’s body found from East Lombok recently. The human skeleton was found near the dock area. The remains were discovered approximately one kilometre from the dock.

According to Ahmad, the remains were already buried by local residents near the discovery site. Residents took the initiative to bury them directly as there were no identifying signs such as clothing.

The remains have been buried by residents near where they were discovered. Ahmad added that the discovery has been reported to the Labuan Badas Police Sub-station.

Labuan Badas Police Sub-station Commander, Iptu Eko Riyono, confirmed the discovery of skeletal remains in Sebotok Village on Moyo Island. Eko stated that his team was en route to the location to conduct further investigation.

Eko urged all residents who believe they have missing family members to report to authorities immediately.
