Residents in Bandung Regency Report Ash Fall

A number of residents in Greater Bandung, who were preparing to begin their outdoor activities this morning, were surprised by an unusual sight on their terraces. Residents were startled by a thin but dense layer of dust covering floors and house fences.

This news quickly gained traction on social media on Sunday (6/9/2026). Based on information gathered by detikJabar, many netizens shared photos of their dirty house terraces. The dust is suspected to be volcanic ash fallout from the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau.

Habil, a resident of Cimahi City, was one of the individuals directly affected by this phenomenon. While attempting to clean his house, he was shocked by the density of the adhering dust.

“In Cimai, I only swept 10 tiles, and it was very black,” he said, as reported by detikJabar on Sunday (6/9/2026).

Not only in Cimahi, this ‘dust rain’ also reached the Bandung Regency area. Regita, a resident of Pasirjambu, found that her house fences and floors were already covered in a fairly thick layer of ash.

“It reached Pasirjambu, sticking to the house fences. Quite a lot on the terrace too, though it has already been swept,” Regita explained.

Similar concerns were felt by Esha, a resident of Tegalilat, Soreang. For him, this morning’s conditions were very different from usual days. The dust that fell this time felt more massive.

“It is usually not this thick, the location is Tegalilat, Soreang,” said Esha.
