Residents Hysterically Welcome Prabowo for Meninting Dam Inauguration

Thousands of residents of Bukit Tinggi Village, Gunungsari District, enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Meninting Dam in West Lombok, NTB, today. Prabowo was scheduled to arrive at 14.25 Wita to inaugurate the dam.

On Friday (10/7/2026), thousands of residents braved the heat while waiting for the arrival of Indonesia’s number one person. In addition, hundreds of students lined up to welcome Prabowo from the entrance to the Meninting Dam area.

Upon arriving at the access road to the Meninting Dam inauguration site, Prabowo stepped out of the Garuda Limousine and immediately greeted the residents. The crowd gave a rousing welcome, having waited since midday.

A Bukit Tinggi resident, Lukman Hakim, expressed his delight at receiving an invitation to welcome President Prabowo. He had been at the location since 13.00 Wita. “We are happy. This is the first time I have seen the country’s number one person in the flesh,” he said.

Lukman hoped the president’s visit to his hometown would draw the government’s attention. He noted that the existence of the Meninting Dam is vital for the people of West Lombok. “We are happy to see the President directly. We are moved,” he said.

Prabowo inaugurated four dams, including the Meninting Dam located in Bukit Tinggi Village, Gunungsari District, West Lombok Regency, NTB, on Friday afternoon (10/7/2026). The President was accompanied during the inauguration by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, and Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman. Also in attendance were National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, the Governor of NTB, and regents from across NTB.
