Residents' Houses on TPU Kamal Kalideres Land to Be Completely Demolished Next Monday
The West Jakarta City Government is preparing to execute the demolition of remaining residents’ buildings on public cemetery (TPU) land in Kamal and Pegadungan sub-districts, Kalideres, on Monday (6/4/2026).
Kamal sub-district head, Edy Sukarya, stated that his office is ready to carry out the land clearance instructions, which is an asset of the DKI Jakarta Parks and City Forest Service (Tamhut).
“There are currently 11 households left, so I will seek guidance from the leadership. I will work according to the directives. Since SP1, SP2, and SP3 notices have already been issued, if there’s an instruction from the mayor, we will take clearance action,” Edy told Kompas.com on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
“We are giving them time now. Those who have relocated independently or are still occupying the land, ‘Oh, I want to relocate to a flat’, we are still giving them the opportunity, they can still do it,” Edy explained.
To support a humane clearance process, Kamal sub-district is also preparing Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officers (PPSU) along with transport fleets for 24 hours to assist residents carrying out independent relocations.
Edy added that several residents have started dismantling their own houses to take reusable or sellable building materials.
The sub-district office is also marking residents’ buildings with special signs. The letter “M” indicates buildings being dismantled independently.
“There’s also the ‘R’ mark for those moving to flats, they can already be dismantled,” Edy said.
However, Edy stated that they will not immediately demolish all empty buildings.
“And they are still given time, as they are poor people, ideally they can sell it. Alright, I’ll give them time. Not too long though. Meaning the government is providing it, but remains firm,” Edy remarked.
Nevertheless, Acting Kalideres District Head Raditian Ramajaya said that his side has begun executing the demolition of buildings in stages in RW 07 and 08 of Kamal sub-district as well as RW 04 and 08 of Pegadungan sub-district.
A total of 45 buildings have been demolished from the four RWs in the two sub-district areas since Tuesday (31/3/2026).
“Some buildings were demolished by the occupants themselves, others by joint apparatus. For the Kamal area, today 3 buildings were demolished by officers and 2 independently. Yesterday, 10 buildings were demolished by the occupants themselves,” he said.
