Residents hear hysterical screams as toddler found dead in Bekasi
The tragic discovery of a two-year-old toddler murdered by his uncle, G (18), has shocked residents in Jatisampurna, Bekasi. Residents reported hearing hysterical screams from the victim’s rental house. Local RT chairman Taufik Hidayat stated the victim was found dead on Wednesday evening (27/5). At that time, the victim’s grandmother, who is also the perpetrator’s mother, had just returned home. ‘The grandmother returned around 10pm. I saw her come back, and not long after she arrived at the rental house, I heard screaming. The girl child was shouting from upstairs,’ Taufik said at his residence on Saturday (30/5/2026). Taufik explained that the screams from the victim’s sister were clearly heard by him and residents around the rental house. He and other residents went to the rental house and found both the victim and perpetrator lying in a pool of blood. ‘When we looked inside, myself and the neighbours checked the rental house. Indeed, it was covered in blood, full of wounds,’ Taufik said. At that time, he said, the toddler was motionless and appeared to have stopped breathing. However, he and residents could not touch the victim and waited for police. Taufik immediately contacted the RW chairman, Bhabinkamtibmas, and Babinsa. ‘We couldn’t determine if the victim was dead or alive. Residents couldn’t touch them, and neither could we. That’s the police’s jurisdiction,’ Taufik said. ‘So after seeing that, we called. I first called the RW chairman, then the police station, and Babinsa. Then the police arrived,’ he explained. Meanwhile, the uncle, suspected of the toddler’s murder, was found unconscious with injuries across his body. However, he was still breathing. ‘The uncle was also lying there, apparently attempting suicide. He was unconscious but still breathing. Yes, he was breathing but motionless,’ he said. Taufik also stated that the murder committed by G against his nephew had shocked residents, who had not anticipated such an incident. According to Taufik, G was alone with his nephew in the rental house when the incident occurred, while his mother, the toddler’s grandmother, was out selling goods. G, Taufik said, was known to have epilepsy. On the day of the incident, G’s mother admitted her son had not taken his medication for two days. ‘So when the grandmother went out selling, the toddler was left alone with his uncle. They were alone together,’ Taufik said. ‘Yes, when questioned about it, his mother confirmed he has epilepsy. He hadn’t taken his medication for two days. When he skips his medication, he gets angry, she said,’ he added.
