The area around the CNI shopping centre and Lippo Mall Puri on Jalan Puri Indah Raya in Kembangan, West Jakarta, is once again sparking controversy. The proliferation of illegal parking along the roadside has gone viral due to the imposition of very high parking fees, justified as holiday allowances (THR). Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location on Tuesday (24/3/2026), rows of two-wheeled vehicles were seen filling all four sides around the roundabout in front of the CNI building. The area from Jalan Puri Lingkar Dalam, Jalan Puri Ayu (towards the Mayor’s Office), to Jalan Puri Elok is occupied by illegal parking operators. In the post, a resident vented their frustration at being forced to pay a motorcycle parking fee of Rp 10,000 simply because it was during the Eid holiday period. “I feel so unwilling; I just stopped briefly and was immediately demanded Rp 10,000 for parking, saying it was increased for Eid.” “After all, that’s public road and it’s close to the mayor’s office,” read the caption of the post. The video recorder also claimed that there were many Satpol PP officers around the location, but they seemed to turn a blind eye and did not take action against the illegal parking operators. At that time, she was driving a car with her younger siblings and intended to buy street food snacks in the CNI area. “I came from Puri, happened to bring the car because I was taking my siblings along. Then I stopped here because there are lots of street food snacks, just stopped briefly without getting out of the car,” said Revi to Kompas.com on Tuesday.
