Residents of Baku Hamlet, Sumi Village, Lambu District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), were forced to carry a corpse on foot for 2 kilometres (km) because an ambulance could not pass through the area due to severely damaged roads.

“Every rainy season like this,” said Wawan, a resident of Baku Hamlet, to detikBali on Friday (27/2/2026).

Wawan revealed that residents carried the deceased person using a cloth on Thursday (26/2) evening. According to him, the deceased had received treatment at Lambu Health Centre.

“Carried at night without lights for 2 kilometres,” Wawan said. “The road condition prevents four-wheeled vehicles from passing through,” he added.

Wawan urged the Bima Regency Government (Pemkab) to immediately repair the road infrastructure in the village. According to him, the road is covered in mud during rainy seasons like this.

“This road condition frequently obstructs economic activity and residents’ daily mobility,” he concluded.

detikBali attempted to confirm with Bima Regency Government regarding the situation. However, the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) of Bima Regency, Taufikurahman, had not responded by Friday evening.
