Residents Flock to Subsidised Sembako Redemption at Jakbar City Park, West Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Residents around City Park, Kembangan, West Jakarta, flocked to a subsidised sembako (staple food) redemption program held in the area on Wednesday. They arrived in droves because with a Rp100,000 coupon, a variety of basic goods could be purchased. One resident, Tini (56), said she found the subsidised sembako programme very helpful. ‘I think it’s cheap, affordable in these times,’ she said. By paying only Rp100,000, she added, residents could obtain a number of essential items such as rice, cooking oil, and sugar. ‘On the open market (when shopping) it can reach Rp150,000. This is only Rp100,000,’ she noted. She said the subsidised sembako programme is very beneficial for people like her. ‘Especially now during Ramadan, when the prices of essentials are rising,’ she added.
