Since Wednesday morning (25/2), the Saparua Sports Hall in Bandung has been crowded with residents wanting to exchange old banknotes for new ones for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Although the queue looks long, the atmosphere is orderly. Residents come according to the schedule they had previously ‘booked’ through Bank Indonesia’s (BI) PINTAR application.
The tradition of sharing Eid bonuses (THR) makes new banknotes always in demand every year. However, now, the effort is no longer just about standing in a long physical queue, but rather ‘queuing’ online first to get an exchange slot.

“It was too difficult to queue, so I used a link, luckily I got it,” she complained while also queuing.

“I got a slot at Gor Saparua, while my husband has a different schedule and location at the Al-Jabbar Mosque,” she added.
Rahayu admitted that the system felt smoother this year compared to the previous year.
“If this year it’s smooth, except for last year. Last year there were a lot of errors. But this year, thank God, it’s smooth,” she said.
According to Rahayu, the schedule-based system is quite effective, especially during the fasting month, and people don’t have to crowd together.
“Usually, if we go to the bank, we have to jostle, there are a lot of people inside. But now, it’s more organized,” she said.
The same thing was said by Asep, a resident of Sarijadi, who said he had to be patient when the online registration was opened.
“At the beginning, it was difficult because I had to wait for a while, even for hours. I once entered, then there was an error, then I entered again, but thank God I got a notification,” he said.
Asep plans to exchange Rp4,300,000 for Eid needs. For Eid needs and to be distributed during Eid to nephews, family and also close neighbors who come to the house on the holiday. (AN)
