Residents Eager to Try Velodrome-Manggarai LRT: From Creating Content to Sightseeing

The LRT route from Velodrome to Manggarai will soon be operational. A number of residents have said they cannot wait for the route to begin service.

One of them is Nafisa (20), a resident of Tangerang, who wants to create content once the LRT route is running. She intends to inform people that there is an LRT connecting Manggarai, South Jakarta, to Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

“I just want to let people know that the Jakarta LRT can connect Manggarai to Kelapa Gading easily, safely and comfortably,” Nafisa explained when met near Manggarai LRT Station, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

Nafisa said she will visit several places. One of them is Kelapa Gading, which is known for having many food spots.

“Yes, that’s right (to Kelapa Gading), especially since there are also many malls there, so there are plenty of options, and lots of snacks too. Kelapa Gading is basically a food paradise, apart from Pasar Senen,” she said.

Nafisa said the LRT could also shorten travel time from Manggarai to Kelapa Gading. She said the Rp 5,000 fare that has been set is also affordable.

“Yes, that’s right (it can be faster). Especially since Transjakarta is the first option and the traffic on the road is not yet predictable, it can be congested, and then there can be disruptions. By using the LRT, we can save time. And the fare is now Rp 5,000,” she added.

Besides Nafisa, there is Mulyadi (60), a resident who wants to try using the Manggarai-Kelapa Gading LRT. Mulyadi wants to use the free travel card (KLG) he owns for sightseeing.

“Yes, I do have a free card for riding the LRT and Transjakarta. I really make use of the free transport, like the LRT and MRT,” Mulyadi said when met at Manggarai LRT Station.

Mulyadi said he feels the benefits of the LRT. With it, he can gain more knowledge about Jakarta.

“The benefits are certainly felt. I am happy to have knowledge of Jakarta, to know Jakarta better,” he said.

Mulyadi also shared that he had previously tried the MRT using his free card. By trying the MRT, he said he had travelled to Senayan and Blok M.

“I really want to try the LRT. I have already tried the MRT from Bundaran HI to Istora or Blok M,” he added.
