Residents Demand Sukoharjo Pork Noodle Shop Convert to Halal Restaurant, This is the Owner's Response

The Sukoharjo Regency government mediated between the owner of the Mie dan Babi Tepi Sawah eatery and representatives from Dusun Sudimoro residents in Parangjoro Village, Grogol Subdistrict. During the mediation, residents demanded that the owner convert the Mie dan Babi Tepi Sawah eatery into a restaurant with halal menus. The mediation took place on Tuesday (21/4) and was attended by the owner and resident representatives. The Sukoharjo Regency government attempted to request that the business owner switch to halal menus, which is still under consideration by the entrepreneur. This first mediation ended in deadlock, as no decision was reached. RW 10 Chairman Bandowi stated that residents welcome investments entering their area and do not wish to disturb the entrepreneur. Provided that the business conducted is halal. “The principle is that residents are Muslims, we don’t want to disturb people. The principle is simple, please do business, the important thing is that it’s halal. There are still many halal options. If it’s really burdensome, please revoke the permit. Because changing the menu requires thorough preparation. “We need time, because there are many things that need to be calculated and considered, both from a business, economic, and other perspectives. Moreover, the type of business run by Mr. Jodi has been passed down through generations and cannot be changed just like that,” said Cucuk. Meanwhile, on Thursday (23/4), the Sukoharjo Regency government is still awaiting the response from the owner of the Mie dan Babi Tepi Sawah eatery regarding the previous mediation. The regency government did not set a deadline for the eatery owner’s response. “Yesterday, the person concerned (the eatery owner) could not immediately provide an answer because it needed to be thought about first. The mediation leader, Assistant I, did not set a deadline; we are now coordinating with the person concerned to ask if they can already provide an answer or not,” said Sunarto when contacted by detikJateng on Thursday (23/4/2026).
