Residents Demand Permanent Repair of Damaged Road in Marunda, North Jakarta, Not Just Temporary Patching

JAKARTA - Residents are calling for a permanent repair of the damaged road on the Marunda Access Bridge in Cilincing, North Jakarta, to prevent accidents for motorists. One motorist, Nurmansyah (43), stated that the repairs carried out so far have only been temporary patching, leaving holes at several points. “Now it has been patched, but it’s just asphalt patching. So there are still small holes left, but they are actually quite deep,” said Nurmansyah when met by Kompas.com on Wednesday (29/4/2026). He mentioned this because the road is relatively quiet ahead of Lebaran. “Ahead of Lebaran, it’s quiet. If there is a full road repair, the traffic impact won’t be significant,” he explained. However, a total repair such as re-concreting the road has not yet been carried out. He hopes that the government will soon pay attention to the condition of the road on the Marunda Access Bridge. “(Total repair) Yes, that’s if the government really wants to carry out its responsibility,” he said. Another motorist, Aby (42), also hopes for a more comprehensive road repair because accidents are said to occur quite frequently at the location. “Yes, I want it to be tidied up like that, so there are no more accidents. It’s dangerous, this route,” he explained. “It should really be re-concreted, not just patched with asphalt,” he added. Kompas.com has contacted the Head of the Road and Bridge Section of the North Jakarta Public Works Department, Budi Cahyo Wardoyo, regarding the condition of the road on the Marunda Access Bridge. However, no response has been received as of yet. Based on Kompas.com’s observation at the location, damage is visible at several points on the bridge.
