Residents complain of damaged road

BEKASI: The Alliance of Teluk Pucung Community again told the Bekasi transportation agency on Wednesday to take firm measures against large-capacity oil trucks entering the prohibited Jl. Perjuangan.

Alliance executive Akhmad Supendi said that at least 60 trucks with a five-ton capacity had entered and left Pertamina's oil fields in Babelan district via Jl. Perjuangan.

The seven-kilometer road is now closed to heavy vehicles, pending the reconstruction of the work where large potholes, some 60 centimeters in diameter, has disrupted traffic.

The alliance gave the administration one week to stop the Pertamina trucks from using the road. "Hundreds of us will hold a protest rally at the transportation agency office if the officials cannot meet the deadline," Supandi said.

Mayor Akhmad Zurfaih said that Pertamina had yet to meet its promise to disburse Rp 8 billion (US$869,565) for roadwork. -- Antara
