Residents complain about road closure

JAKARTA: Residents of Pegadungan subdistrict in Kalideres, West Jakarta, have asked the municipality to intervene in a dispute involving the closure of a public road in the Citra 5 housing area.

Several residents have blocked the road that used to be a short cut for residents from outside the housing area.

"We want the municipality administration to solve the problem because our subdistrict and district heads could not find the best way to settle this conflict," a resident, Surya, was quoted as saying by the city's official online news Beritajakarta.com on Monday.

Kalideres district head Syamsoedin Akil said that the matter had been discussed at the municipality office "but the result is that the subdistrict head is the one who should solve the matter". -- JP
