Residents Complain About Fragile Sidewalk in Selong Urban Forest, Unrepaired for Years
Residents are complaining about the condition of the sidewalk in Selong Urban Forest, which is already fragile and even partially collapsed in some areas. They state that this condition has persisted for years without any repairs. “The condition has been severe like this for a long time, for years it has never been repaired,” said one resident, Opik (28), on Thursday (2/4/2026). Observations by detikBali show that the sidewalk encircling Selong Urban Forest appears riddled with holes due to fragile drainage covers. The sidewalk is located in front of the regent’s office and surrounds the urban forest area, with most of it featuring holes. At the site, piles of leaves and rubbish mixed with wastewater are also visible. This condition makes pedestrians reluctant to use the sidewalk for fear of falling. “Residents rarely pass through here; if they do use this sidewalk, they have to jump around to avoid the holes. In my opinion, this could endanger pedestrians,” Opik added. Opik revealed that on the same day, a resident had fallen near the sidewalk. Fortunately, the victim was not injured. “This morning someone fell; he was just sitting around having coffee when suddenly he fell. Only his clothes got wet from the wastewater, luckily the person is fine,” he concluded. He hopes the government will soon carry out repairs so that similar incidents do not recur. “If possible, it should be repaired, because this has already caused someone to fall. Don’t wait until there is another victim,” he added.
