The Dewi Sri area and its surroundings in Legian Village, Kuta District, Badung, have begun to recover after being flooded due to heavy rain since Tuesday (February 24th). Today, residents can be seen cleaning up the mud that entered their homes.

The water began to enter residential areas on Tuesday morning and continued to rise to over one meter. Several residents were forced to evacuate because their homes were uninhabitable.

“We’ve been cleaning since this morning. Because we evacuated to Nakula,” said Reni on Wednesday (February 25th, 2025) afternoon.

The resident of Jalan Campuhan said the water entered around 1:00 a.m. and continued to rise before dawn.

“Everything was destroyed, all the mattresses were soaked. When the water entered, it was around 1 a.m., and before dawn, it was knee-deep in the room,” she said.

Reni believes that this flood was worse than the one in September 2025 because the water was higher and took longer to recede. The water finally receded completely around 11:30 p.m. after it had been raining for three days.

A similar experience was shared by Nofri. The 22-year-old woke up around 2:00 a.m. when his body was already wet.

“I was sleeping soundly, and suddenly I woke up and my body was wet, everything was wet at two in the morning. But the highest water level was around 5 or 6 a.m.,” he said.

He evacuated for two days to a friend’s house in the Jembatan Naga area. Although the water has receded, residents are still worried about further flooding due to the cloudy weather.

“Hopefully, we, as Muslims, will leave it all to Allah Almighty. If it rains, it will rain, if not, thank God, we can sleep soundly,” said Nofri.

14 Disaster Locations in Badung

The Badung Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 14 disaster locations due to extreme weather since Tuesday, including floods, fallen trees, and collapsed roads in five sub-districts. The worst flooding occurred in Kuta District and inundated almost the entire village.

“Regarding the floods, the condition is quite severe because almost all villages in Kuta District are affected. The areas that are usually flooded include Jalan Kunti, Drupadi, Dewi Sri, Jalan Pandawa, and Sunset Road,” said the Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Badung BPBD, I Ketut Murdika.

According to him, nine flood locations are concentrated in Kuta, including Kartika Plaza, Wana Segara, Desa Kelan, and Tuban Village. The floods were exacerbated by water flowing from upstream areas and high tides.

“The highest water level in the Dewi Sri area was chest-high for an adult, while in Kunti, it was above the waist. We in Kuta are in the downstream area, which is the last to receive water, and the high sea level also hinders the flow of water to the sea,” he explained.

In addition to the floods, four fallen trees were reported to have blocked access roads in Petang, Mengwi, and North Kuta. One road collapsed in Tangeb Village, and one shrine in Kerobokan Kaja was eroded by the river flow.

“The teams involved include those from the province, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Mobile Brigade (Brimob), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Disaster Response Volunteers (Tagana), who have been helping since yesterday morning. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and other departments from Badung Regency, such as the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) and the Social Service, have also been deployed to the field along with teams from the sub-districts,” he said.

However, tourism activities in southern Bali are reported to continue. One of the hotel managers in Dewi Sri, Wayan Karta, said that guests only experienced minor inconvenience due to the puddles outside the hotel.

“For picking up guests, we are still safe because we provide transportation vehicles that are large enough to transport guests. This is one of the mitigation steps. But the flood did not reach the hotel,” he said.
