Residents Block Road in Bima Protesting Rumoured Replacement of Primary School Head

The Sila-Bajo crossroad, precisely in front of SDN Nggeru in Rada Village, Bolo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), was blocked by residents. They were protesting because the head teacher of SDN Inpres Nggeru was rumoured to be replaced.

“The road has been closed in front of SDN Inpres Nggeru since this morning,” said a road user, Hermansyah (45), when contacted by detikBali on Wednesday (26/8/2026).

He admitted he did not know the cause of the road closure using wood and stones. However, information obtained at the location indicated that the road was closed in connection with the transfer of the head teacher of SDN Inpres Nggeru.

“From what I heard earlier, the residents who closed the road are rejecting the replacement of the head teacher,” he said.

As a result of the road closure, traffic flow was disrupted. Some motorists were forced to turn back and take alternative routes that were considerably longer. Others chose to wait until the road access was reopened.

“I turned back earlier because I was in a hurry. If I had waited for the road to reopen, I could have been late getting to Sila market,” he said.

A resident of Nggeru, Syamsudin (35), said the road closure action was related to the issue of the head teacher of SDN Inpres Nggeru, Jumrah, who was rumoured to be replaced. Residents reacted by rejecting the move and voicing their protest.

“The current head teacher of SDN Inpres Nggeru, Mr Jumrah, is rumoured to be replaced by a new head teacher named Aswad. The residents do not accept this, so they are voicing their protest by closing the road,” he said.

Residents rejected the new head teacher and demanded that the current head teacher be retained. They believe the current head teacher has contributed greatly to building SDN Inpres Nggeru. Since Jumrah became head teacher, SDN Inpres Nggeru has been considered to have achieved many accomplishments.

“The current head teacher is considered to have served well and achieved many accomplishments. Residents do not want SDN Inpres Nggeru to be led by a new head teacher,” he said.

The Bolo Police Chief, First Inspector M. Sofyan Hidayat, acknowledged the situation. The road closure action is still ongoing. His party is taking a persuasive approach, asking residents to reopen road access.

“It is still ongoing. Since this morning we have been approaching and negotiating with residents to reopen the closed road access,” he said.
