Residents Begin Cleaning Mud-Covered Homes After Padang Flash Flood
Residents in the Lapau Munggu area of Kuranji, Padang, have begun cleaning their homes which are still covered in mud and debris a day after a flash flood struck the region. The community, alongside volunteers, is working together to clear houses and the surrounding environment so that daily activities can resume. The West Sumatra Provincial Government is maintaining a Transition Status from Emergency to Recovery for floods, flash floods, landslides, and strong winds as a basis for accelerating handling in the affected areas. This transition status is valid until 18 September 2026 and includes efforts to rehabilitate infrastructure, restore basic services, and provide assistance to the impacted communities. Local authorities and related agencies are continuing to assess the damage and distribute aid to expedite the post-disaster recovery process across several areas in West Sumatra.
