Residents Back DKI Jakarta's Plan to Tighten Padel Court Permits
Residents of Cilandak, South Jakarta, have expressed their support for the DKI Jakarta provincial government’s plan to tighten padel court permits in the capital.
“Absolutely agree, absolutely agree,” said one resident, Naufal, when speaking to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.
Naufal said he supported the plan given the noise emanating from a padel court adjacent to his home. Nevertheless, he added that deciding on such a policy would naturally take considerable time.
“Besides, policy also has its own progress — it usually takes a while,” he said.
Meanwhile, another resident, Raihana, also expressed agreement with tighter padel permit regulations to ensure the comfort of residents in surrounding neighbourhoods.
“If there are regulations, they can be more attentive to residents — whether their activities are causing disturbance or not,” Raihana said.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo moved to invite all relevant parties to discuss padel court permits in the capital. He took this step following complaints from residents that padel courts near their homes were generating noise that disrupted their daily lives.
Pramono will instruct his administration to present which areas have padel court permit violations that are disturbing residents’ comfort.
Earlier, residents in the Haji Nawi Raya area of Cilandak, South Jakarta, had reported noise disturbances caused by the construction of padel courts to relevant authorities since November 2025. On that occasion, they demanded that operators install sound dampening measures or cease operations entirely.
