Residents Appreciate South Sumatra Police's Home Renovation Aid Ahead of Bhayangkara Day
The Head of South Sumatra Police handed over the keys to a renovated house directly to a resident who was a victim of a fire in Kelurahan 13 Ulu, Kecamatan Seberang Ulu II, Palembang, on Friday (10/4). Indra Irmawan, or Iwan, continuously expressed his thanks because his residence is now once again a safe, healthy, and habitable home.
“I express my gratitude to Mr Kapolda Sumsel and all his ranks who have helped renovate my house. I am very grateful for the assistance provided,” said Iwan in a statement from Polda Sumsel on Sunday (12/4/2026).
He also represented the residents in the surrounding area in conveying appreciation for the quick response from the police apparatus. “On behalf of the residents of RT 18, we express our thanks to Mr General along with the ranks of Mr Kapolda and Kapolrestabes regarding the fire disaster that I experienced. Anyway, we express our utmost thanks,” he added.
Iwan’s house is one of 40 units renovated by the Polda Sumsel ranks. This social service activity targets residents with economic limitations, with uninhabitable house conditions due to the age of the building or the impact of disasters. During the activity, the police also distributed social assistance to the surrounding community.
Kapolda Sumsel Irjen Sandi Nugroho, who led the activity, emphasised that this home renovation programme is a real manifestation of Polri’s presence in the midst of society. This is also an implementation of the humane and responsive Polri Presisi concept.
“Polri must not be distant from the community. We must be present, feel, and help the difficulties faced by residents. This programme is not just building houses, but also building better living hopes,” Sandi asserted firmly.
This police step aligns with the national priority programme in overcoming poverty and social resilience. The Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumsel, Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, added that the commemoration of Bhayangkara Day is not merely ceremonial, but is realised through concrete actions.
“We ensure that Polri’s presence provides real benefits to the community. This home renovation programme is a form of ongoing concern from Polda Sumsel in maintaining social stability through a humane approach,” said Nandang.
Meanwhile, the Head of Human Resources of Polda Sumsel, Kombes Sudrajad Hariwobo, as the activity implementation chairman, stated that this social service is proof of institutional transformation. Polda Sumsel continues to demonstrate that the police not only carry out law enforcement functions, but also play an active role in supporting national development and strengthening the social foundations of society.
