Residents Along Senen Railway Tracks Surprised by Prabowo's Sudden Visit
President Prabowo Subianto made a sudden blusukan to the residents’ settlement along the railway tracks in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, yesterday. Residents living along the tracks said Prabowo arrived unexpectedly without tight security.
Resident named Chono (56) recounted that he was carrying out his daily activities by the edge of the tracks. Several nearby residents were shocked when Prabowo suddenly appeared.
“It was just spontaneous, sir, he came. There was no prior notice that he was coming here, no. He suddenly showed up there, I was really scared there might be a train,” said Chono when met along the Senen tracks, Friday (27/3/2026).
“So everyone was spontaneously surprised, and then everyone came over. There was a crowd at the station, with Paspampres,” he added.
Chono immediately recognised Prabowo’s arrival, at that time wearing a cap, to the trackside. He said he immediately approached and warned him to be careful because he was worried about an oncoming train.
“As soon as I saw the cap, ‘Oh, Pak Prabowo,’ I ran over. That’s why I was really scared about a train from around that bend, you can’t see it,” he said.
Chono then recounted his conversation with Prabowo. He said Prabowo offered the residents to live in housing units.
“I shook hands. ‘Thank you, sir, for coming here,’ because he said ‘Oh, there are still many of my people who are struggling.’ That’s what he said. So I told Pak Prabowo, ‘If you build housing units, would you move, sir?’ ‘Yes,’ I said, like that,” he said, mimicking his conversation with Prabowo.
Chono mentioned that Prabowo is the first figure to visit the Senen trackside. This made him happy yet nervous when meeting him.
“No one. No one besides Pak Prabowo. That’s why when the number one person in Indonesia visits, I’m directly happy. But on one side, there’s nervousness,” he said.
Chono also recounted that Prabowo provided assistance to the surrounding residents.
“Yes, from Pak Prabowo yesterday, we were given a little something, an envelope. One family Rp 2 million,” he said.
