Residents along Senen railway tracks moved by Prabowo's visit

“I’m so happy. All my life, since I was little, I’ve lived here, and no president has ever come here before. So when he came, I felt so happy. Sir has given me sustenance,” said Seger, a local resident, who admitted to being deeply moved by Prabowo’s arrival in her neighbourhood.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the residential area along the railway tracks in Senen, Central Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon, left a profound impression on the local residents.

One of them, experienced by Seger, a local resident, who admitted to being deeply moved by Prabowo’s arrival in her living environment.

As per the information received, Seger expressed that throughout her life living in that area, this was the first time a president had come directly to greet the residents and listen to the people’s aspirations.

“I’m so happy. All my life, since I was little, I’ve lived here, and no president has ever come here before. So when he came, I felt so happy. Sir has given me sustenance,” she said.

She also offered prayers and hopes for Prabowo to always be granted health and smooth sustenance.

“Hopefully, Mr President can be given health and abundant sustenance. Thank you, sir, may you be given health and much sustenance,” she said.

Residents living along the railway tracks, said Seger, hope that one day they can occupy more decent housing, such as apartments.

“Well, if it’s me who has lived here for a long time, if there’s something to occupy like apartments, I would, sir. Maybe I won’t live by the tracks anymore,” she said.

Seger explained that economic limitations make it difficult for her to rent more decent accommodation.

“Because my livelihood is busking. So if it’s for renting, I can’t afford it, my income is just enough. If it’s for renting, I can’t pay, I’d be evicted by the landlord. So I live here, I hold on,” she explained.

Wearing a blue shirt and a cream cap, Prabowo walked through the Senen area, Central Jakarta, where residents’ settlements stand near the railway tracks.

“Listening to the aspirations of the community there, Insyaallah we will soon build decent housing for the community in that area quickly. And it has become my determination to provide decent housing for the Indonesian people,” Prabowo wrote on his personal Instagram account (@prabowo).
