Residents Affected by Haze in Banjarbaru Can Access Free Oxygen

Haze resulting from forest and land fires (karhutla) has begun to impact public health in Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan. The Banjarbaru City Government has prepared free ‘Oxygen House’ services as initial assistance for residents experiencing shortness of breath or respiratory disturbances due to smoke exposure.

The Oxygen House service is available 24 hours a day at the Banjarbaru City Public Safety Center (PSC) and the Cempaka Community Health Centre (Puskesmas). The Banjarbaru City Health Office has also instructed other community health centres to provide similar services according to their respective capacities and operational hours.

The Oxygen House is intended to help citizens receive faster assistance before undergoing further medical treatment if their health condition requires more in-depth examination. Amidst the haze still enveloping several areas, the public is also urged to reduce smoke exposure and wear masks when engaging in outdoor activities.
