Jakarta — Metro Jaya Police (PMJ) has urged the public to avoid illegal parking during Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Istiqlal Mosque area on Saturday (21/3/2026). Officers have prepared traffic engineering to anticipate vehicle density around the location.

PMJ Traffic Director, Senior Commissioner Pol Komarudin, stated that this security measure is part of the Ketupat Operation. The Juanda Street area is a focus due to the annual influx of vehicles from worshippers heading to Eid prayers.

“We also urge people not to follow directions often given by illegal parking attendants, who usually only cause blockages or problems on the roads. We will deploy our officers; follow the instructions and directions from our officers in the field,” Komarudin said at the HI Roundabout Complex, Jakarta, in the early hours of Friday (20/3/2026) WIB.

He explained that officers are stationed at several points to regulate traffic flow and direct parking to official locations. This step is expected to prevent congestion due to irregular parking around the worship area.

Eid prayer security is also implemented at various other points, including for Muhammadiyah worshippers who perform prayers earlier. Apparatus have been on standby since Friday in the early hours to ensure the smooth running of the activities.

National Police Traffic Corps Chief, Inspector General Pol Agus Suryonugroho, emphasised that Eid al-Fitr security has been prepared in various regions. The security covers traffic, places of worship, to community activity centres.

He stated that security and public order conditions remain conducive without notable incidents. Traffic flow management is running well with field personnel support and technology-based monitoring.

“In the field of community protection and security, up to now there have been no prominent incidents, still quite conducive. In the field of traffic security and order, there is peak flow, there is traffic generation but we can manage it well,” said Agus.

Eid al-Fitr security covers takbiran night to post-holiday community activities, including visits to tourist spots. Evaluations are conducted to ensure every stage runs smoothly.

The Ketupat Operation involves cross-agency collaboration across regions. Public support is a key factor in maintaining traffic smoothness and security during Eid al-Fitr.
