Resident Searching for Wood Finds Human Skeleton on South Lampung Coast
The discovery of a human skeleton buried on the shoreline has shocked residents of Legundi Village, Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency. The remains were found by a local who was searching for wood.
The body parts of the human skeleton became visible after sand was swept away by waves. The discovery occurred on Saturday (18/7/2026) at 11.20 WIB.
The skeleton was found by a resident looking for wood along the coastal area. The villager initially spotted body parts protruding from a mound of sand.
Upon closer inspection, the resident suspected the find was a human body and immediately reported it to village officials. The report was then forwarded by the Legundi Village Head to the Ketapang Sub-district Head.
Two firefighters arrived at the scene at 11.45 WIB after receiving the report. Officers then coordinated with the police and other relevant parties to evacuate the human skeleton.
“We received a report from the sub-district authorities regarding the discovery of a human skeleton on the coast of Legundi Village. Personnel from the Ketapang Fire and Rescue Post immediately went to the location to assist with the evacuation together with the police and local government,” said Rully Fikriansyah, Head of Fire and Rescue for South Lampung Regency.
