JAKARTA - A netizen complained about illegal parking on residential streets in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta. The owner of the Threads account @seinsh stated that residents had reported the illegal parking issue up to the sub-district level. Residents also reported it through the JAKI application. However, the report was said to remain unresolved. “How do you handle illegal parking issues on sub-district roads? Residents protesting directly to the perpetrators didn’t work, reporting to the sub-district level didn’t resolve it, trying to report via JAKI resulted in fake evidence from AI editing,” the user wrote in the post. In response, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik), Budi Awaluddin, said that his side had coordinated to validate the follow-up on the complaint. “The Bureau of Government acknowledges an error in the validation process. To date, no evidence of complaint follow-up using AI-generated photos has ever been found,” Budi said in his statement on Sunday (5/4/2026). Budi mentioned that from January to March 2026, the total public complaints received through various channels, including the JAKI application and the Public Quick Response System (CRM), reached 62,571 reports. On average, around 20,857 complaints are handled each month. Diskominfotik will examine the evidence of follow-up reports suspected of using AI technology. In addition, administrative measures will be taken by issuing a warning letter to Kalisari Sub-district, which is allegedly involved in this case. Not only that, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also plans to issue a Circular prohibiting the use of AI in preparing evidence for complaint follow-ups. “We deeply regret this incident as it tarnishes the good name and performance of field officers who have worked with high dedication and responsiveness,” Budi stated. On the other hand, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to appreciate the active role of the community in submitting reports on issues in their areas. Residents are also urged not only to report but to monitor the follow-up results and provide input as a form of public oversight. “We urge the public to continue reporting issues in their areas. We also greatly appreciate it if the public helps check the follow-up results and provides input for future improvements,” Budi said.
