Resident Feedback on Badung Car Free Day: Extended Routes and Organised Parking Requested
Residents appeared enthusiastic during the first trial of the Car Free Day (CFD) on Jalan Teuku Umar Barat, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Badung, on Sunday (30/08/2026). Several locals were seen participating in the maiden event.
Febri, a 21-year-old resident, attended the event with two friends after learning about it via a local community group. She expressed curiosity about the event as it was the first of its kind in Badung.
“Since this is the first time there has been a CFD here, I was curious, so I came. I am enthusiastic and happy because it is quite nice to get some exercise in the morning,” she said when interviewed at the CFD area.
While Febri intended to participate in games at one of the stalls, the long queues led her to simply stroll around the location instead. She hopes that the CFD in Badung can be held regularly every weekend, but noted that the parking area needs evaluation to prevent confusion. She also suggested that the CFD route could be extended.
“My feedback is regarding the parking; it is still unclear where to park. It needs to be better organised, and perhaps the CFD area could be extended, though keeping it as it is would also be fine,” Febri remarked.
Another resident, Agung from Banjar Pengubengan Kangin, attended with his wife and child specifically for exercise. He noted that such initiatives are excellent opportunities for local residents who enjoy physical activity.
Agung, who usually exercises at the Renon CFD in Denpasar, chose this location because it is closer to his home. However, he felt the current route, which is less than 1 kilometre, was insufficient for a proper workout.
“The track is just not long enough. It only goes as far as the intersection, which is unsatisfying. If possible, it should extend to the far end of the intersection at LP Kerobokan,” the 32-year-old added. He also expressed hope that the event would become more organised and crowded in the future.
Response from the Regent of Badung
The Regent of Badung, I Wayan Adi Arnawa, stated that resident feedback regarding parking would be evaluated following this initial trial. The determination of parking zones will be carefully considered to ensure they do not disturb other road users.
“This is only our first trial. After we observe this, we will look for suitable parking pockets so that we do not interfere with other motorists. This way, everyone can coexist on the road,” said Adi Arnawa.
In addition to parking management, Adi Arnawa plans to expand the public space available for community activities through a road acquisition programme stretching from Teuku Umar Barat towards the Kerobokan Tengah intersection.
“We have a future programme to continue the road acquisition from Teuku Umar Barat towards the Kerobokan Tengah intersection. Our hope is that this will increase the available space,” explained Adi Arnawa.
Previously reported, the first CFD trial was conducted by the Badung Regency Government on Jalan Teuku Umar Barat, Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali, on Sunday (30/08/2026). The trial ran from 06:00 to 08:00 WITA, covering the stretch from the Bali Kiddy School area to the Jalan Tangkuban Perahu traffic light. Traffic from Denpasar towards Badung was diverted via Jalan Persada and Jalan Tangkuban Perahu during the trial period.
