Resident Allegedly Hit by Police Car Actually Fell Due to Stone Thrown in Brawl
The Tebet Police Sector Chief, AKP Iwan Kurniawan, has refuted allegations that a police car struck a resident on Jalan Bukit Duri Selatan, Tebet, South Jakarta, on Monday night (13/4/2026).
Iwan explained that a brawl between residents was underway at the time. The victim, with initials MRA, was struck by a thrown stone while passing by.
“Based on witness statements at the scene, the victim is believed to have been hit by a stone during the brawl and then fell near the patrol vehicle,” Iwan told Kompas.com via WhatsApp message on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
“As a result of the situation, there was stone-throwing at the service vehicle, causing damage,” Iwan added.
Meanwhile, the victim was immediately taken to Tebet Hospital for medical treatment.
The incident became viral on social media with a narrative that the patrol car had hit the resident.
In a video uploaded by @tebet_info on Instagram, a police patrol car is seen surrounded by a crowd.
Several among them appeared to vent their protests into the car through its open window.
“Information circulating at the scene is that there was a collision by a police car,” the account uploader stated, as quoted on Tuesday.
