Reservations for low-cost hotels
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta office of the Ministry of Tourism Post
and Telecommunications will establish an integrated reservation
system for low-cost hotels.
In the first stage, the installation of the reservation system
will cost about Rp 500 million (US$227,272), Pudjo Basuki, the head
of the office, said yesterday.
Pudjo told Antara news agency that the new system is intended to
provide information on the availability of rooms in certain hotels
within a specific period of time.
"Due to the absence of such a system, many foreign tourists have
found difficulties in finding rooms during their stays in the
capital city," he said.
Pudjo explained that data at his office indicates that there are
153 low-cost hotels in operation in the capital, with a combined
room capacity of 4,956.(hhr)
