Resentment Over Being Called Slow at Work Drives Commissioner to Attempt Murder of IT CEO in Menteng

A woman identified as T, a commissioner at an IT company, attempted to murder her colleague MHA, the company’s CEO, at his home in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta. The motive was revealed to be her anger and resentment at being called slow at work by the victim.

The case was initially reported as a robbery. It began when the victim was found injured on Jalan Pati, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, 16 June. The victim had been visiting a house owned by T.

T subsequently filed a robbery report with the police. She initially explained to investigators that intruders had entered through the upper part of the house. She claimed the two perpetrators then got into an argument with MHA, prompting her to go upstairs carrying a stun gun. According to her early account, after gold was handed over, the two perpetrators injured MHA. T then reportedly told her housemate to go home.

On Friday, 19 June, the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, discovered inconsistencies between the witness’s statement and the physical evidence. The Metro Jaya Police’s General Criminal Directorate traced the facts, witness statements, and evidence processed through scientific investigation. It was found that T’s statement was suspected to be false.

“So, the people she said committed the theft, the stolen goods, and the theft incident itself, we suspect are false. It was merely an alibi to obscure the actual event,” Roby said.

“Then, after we discovered that there were in fact no two people who entered the house, it turned out that the assault on Mr MHA was actually carried out by Ms T herself,” Roby continued.

The robbery report filed by T claimed a loss of 500 grams of gold. It was later discovered that the report was false.

“From there, the victim’s sibling filed a police report with the Metro Police to report Ms T under articles of aggravated assault and/or attempted premeditated murder,” he explained.

AKBP Roby revealed that T’s motive for trying to kill her colleague was her resentment at being called slow at work. The two had been working together since 2020.

“The motive conveyed by the suspect so far is that she harboured resentment and a grudge against Mr MHA because, in their association or work together from 2020 until now, the perpetrator was considered slow at work and often said things that hurt the perpetrator’s feelings,” Roby said.

However, the police are not immediately accepting the suspect’s excuse. Roby stated that the police will conduct further investigation and examine additional witnesses.

The suspect has now been named a suspect and detained. She is charged under Article 466 concerning aggravated assault and Article 459 in conjunction with Article 17 paragraph 1 concerning attempted premeditated murder.

“For premeditated murder, the sentence is 20 years or life imprisonment, but attempted murder carries two-thirds of that. So, two-thirds of 20 years. For aggravated assault under Article 466, it is 5 years. Under Article 467, aggravated assault carries 8 years,” he explained.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, in the afternoon. Initially, the victim and the perpetrator were on the ground floor of the location.

“The victim was playing a virtual reality game. Then, because the perpetrator’s hand was injured, she was applying a compress,” Roby said.

The perpetrator then prepared a portable power supply and connected it with a cable. Police stated that the victim was electrocuted and fell.

“Then the perpetrator rolled up a cloth and asked the victim to hold it. Because the victim held the cloth, he was electrocuted and fell for approximately six to eight seconds,” he explained.

The victim lost consciousness after the incident. The perpetrator, panicking, then took a wok from the kitchen and struck the victim on the head and back.

“However, the victim still did not lose consciousness and fled upstairs while screaming,” he stated.

The perpetrator then retrieved a stun gun. The victim tried to escape and ran upstairs. However, the perpetrator chased him and ordered him to lie on the bed while brandishing the stun gun and a hammer.

“The victim complied, and then the perpetrator took a nitrogen canister and ordered the victim to inhale it for about 10 minutes,” he said.

“However, unsure of the method’s effectiveness, the perpetrator then dropped or struck the nitrogen canister on the victim’s head twice, causing serious injury and bleeding to the head,” he continued.

The perpetrator then went downstairs, fetched a kitchen knife, and stabbed the victim in the head, back, and neck. The victim sustained multiple injuries from the incident.
